The Loux Covered Bridge, built in 1874, was damaged Monday after a truck driver disregarded the clearly posted height limit, police said.

BEDMINSTER TOWNSHIP, PA — A historic Bucks County covered bridge has been closed due to structural damage caused by a crash involving an oversized truck Monday afternoon, authorities said.

The Loux Covered Bridge, built in 1874, was damaged Monday after a truck driver disregarded a clearly posted height limit sign, crashing into the historic structure that carries nearly 500 cars a day, Plumstead Township police said.

Police said the crash happened around 1:30 p.m. The bridge, which goes over Cabin Run on Carver-Wismer Road in Bedminster Township, will be closed indefinitely until PennDOT engineers can evaluate and repair the bridge.
