Interactive Workshops For Bucks County Book Festival Announced
There will be interactive workshops as part of this year's Bucks County Book Festival, organizers announced.
DOYLESTOWN, PA — There will be interactive workshops as part of this year's Bucks County Book Festival, organizers announced. The workshops will take place on Saturday, Oct.12.
The morning session is for aspiring or accomplished illustrators and the afternoon session for writers. Workshop facilitators are sought-after coaches and seats are limited, according to organizers. Tickets are $35 for each workshop and must be purchased in advance.

The Illustrators’ Workshop, a new event, will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Stacks Co, 54 East Oakland Avenue, Doylestown. This three-hour workshop is perfect for the beginner or seasoned illustrator, age 17 and older, seeking guidance from well-respected professionals in the industry. During workshop activities, attendees will learn how to promote and protect their work, learn illustration techniques from professional illustrators, and enjoy the opportunity to participate in a Children’s Book Cover Challenge.
Workshop presenters include illustrator Floyd Cooper, winner of the Coretta Scott King award for illustration, illustrator Lauren Walsh, and social media expert Beth Hauptle and intellectual property expert Doug Ryder.

The Writers’ Workshop will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. at the James Lorah Memorial Home, 132 N. Main Street, Doylestown. It is open to aspiring and accomplished writers, age 17 and older. The facilitator and three sought-after writing coaches will help participants hone their craft, overcome fear, and learn how to provide the time and space they need to create.
The Writers’ Workshop team includes Dr. Ethel Rackin, Professor of Language and Literature at Bucks County Community College, Rabbi Sigal Brier, creator of Mendful, Lynn Rosen, co-owner of Open Book Bookstore, and Susan Barr-Toman, novelist and leader of Mindful Writing workshops and retreats. The workshop is sponsored by Bucks County Community College with special thanks to the Village Improvement Association.

The Bucks County Book Festival will happen on October 12 and 13 in Doylestown. It is a two-day celebration connecting authors and book lovers. Keynote speaker is Pulitzer Prize-winning author Anna Quindlen. There will also be author panels and book signings, writers’ and illustrators’ workshops, Kids Book Fest and Fire Prevention Open House, Books ‘N Brew, a One Book community read, a marketplace with vendors, and more. Most events are free.
