K9 Granite To Receive Protective Body Armor Thanks To Donation

DOYLESTOWN, PA — The Central Bucks Regional Police Department's K9 Granite will be receiving a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a generous donation from the non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.

Eileen Green of Doylestown sponsored K9 Granite’s vest, which will be embroidered with the message, “This gift of protection provided by the Green Family."

Delivery is expected within ten weeks.

In early 2025, K9 Granite joined the department as a dual-purpose police service dog specializing in narcotics detection and patrol and protection, including tracking skills, building and article searches, evidence recovery, and criminal apprehension.

Established in 2009, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., is a nonprofit charity whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs serving with law enforcement and related agencies throughout the nation. The potentially lifesaving body armor designed especially for four-legged K9 officers is U.S.-made, custom-fitted, and National Institute of Justice (NIJ)-certified.

Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has provided more than 6,513 vests valued at $6.9 million to K9s in all 50 states, made possible by private and corporate donations.

The program is open to U.S. dogs at least 20 months old, actively employed, and certified with law enforcement or related agencies. K9s with expired vests are also eligible to participate. There are an estimated 30,000 law enforcement K9s throughout the United States.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. accepts tax-deductible contributions in any amount, with a single donation of $1,050 sponsoring one vest. Each vest has a value of $1800, weighs an average of 4-5 pounds, and comes with a five-year warranty.
