Man Arrested Picking Up Items Bought With Fraudulent Card: Cops

Police say Paul Ely purchased $990 in electronics at the Warrington Walmart on Dec. 2. Officers surprised him as he picked up the items.

WARRINGTON, PA — A 57-year-old Warrington man is accused of opening fraudulent credit cards, and then using them on a nearly $1,000 Walmart shopping spree earlier this month, police said.

According to police, Paul Leidy Ely purchased two items for $990 from the electronics department at the Warrington Walmart on Dec. 2.

A police investigation determined the purchases were made using a credit card that the owner did not authorize.

Ely was arrested by police when he attempted to pick up the unauthorized merchandise, authorities said.

He was been charged with one count of identity theft.
