Medication Take Back Day On Saturday In Bucks County

Simply drive up – or walk in – and drop in any unused, unneeded or expired medications for safe disposal.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — National Prescription Drug Take Back Day will be held on Saturday, October 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. throughout Bucks County.

This year's Take Back event, a cooperative venture between the Bucks County Drug & Alcohol Commission, Inc. (BCDAC, Inc.), law enforcement agencies and community coalitions, will feature 46 public collection sites from Bristol to Springfield.

Simply drive up – or walk in – and drop in any unused, unneeded or expired medications for safe disposal.

In addition to prescription medications, law enforcement officers will be collecting over-the-counter and pet medications, vitamins, vaping products and more. Plus, 20 sites throughout the county will be collecting medications and sharps, and select sites will be distributing Narcan while supplies last.

A new addition will be the debut of the "Bucks Take Back Challenge!"

Families are encouraged to work together to complete the Bucks Take Back Challenge and share their activities on social media using the hashtag #BucksTakeBackChallenge! Completed sheets can be brought to any of the Take Back sites in Bucks County; a fun prize will be given while supplies last. The sheets can be found by clicking here.

It is important to follow safe practices with all medications, including storing medications appropriately, taking medications only as prescribed, and locking up and monitoring medications.

According to data from the 2021 Pennsylvania Youth Survey, 50 percent of Bucks County students who have misused prescription medication report the most common way they got it is from a family member living in their home.
