According to the Pennsylvania DEP, the product is designed to provide quick, effective control of adult mosquito populations. “The application material has a very low toxicity profile to mammals and will have negligible impact to non-target insects and the environment,” information from the county said.

Some tips to minimize mosquito populations:

  • Turn over wheelbarrows and plastic wading pools
  • Drill holes in outdoor recycling containers and clean gutters of drain clogging leaves
  • Take measures to reduce mosquito bites by making sure window and door screens fit tight and are free of tears
  • Stay indoors or wear long pants and shirts during the high risk times of dawn and dusk, and any place where mosquitoes are very common
  • Use an effective insect repellent containing DEET, picardin or lemon eucalyptus oil.
