Multiple Burglaries, Stolen Vehicles Reported In Warrington

Police said they believe the same group is committing crimes in the surrounding area, including Doylestown, New Britain and Solebury.

WARRINGTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Multiple burglaries, stolen vehicles and thefts from vehicles were reported between midnight and 5 a.m. on August 17 in Warrington.

And township police said they believe the same group is committing crimes in the surrounding area, including Doylestown, New Britain and Solebury.

Police said it appears the suspects are targeting unlocked vehicles. From there, if they located a garage door opener, they’ll gain entry to the house and burglarize it, police said. Then, if they can locate car keys, they’ll steal the car as well.

"They hit us all and they hit us simultaneously," said Warrington Township Police Chief Daniel Friel.

According to Chief Friel, the group hit vehicles and homes in Palamino Glen (next to Palamino Farms), Fairways (around the golf course), Pickertown Knoll (off Pickertown Road by Elbow Lane), Woodspring (off Elbow Lane at Street Road), Warrington Ridge (off of Bristol Road) and Hickory Ridge (Upper State and Pinkertown Road).

Six vehicles were stolen with one recovered in Doylestown and one tracked to Chester City but not recovered. Four burglaries were also reported, said the chief. And more than 25 thefts from vehicles are under investigation.

"We do know it might be related to similar crimes in New Jersey last week," said Friel. "These are more opportunity crimes. If they can get into a car they will. If not, they don't bother with it. There's no forced entry.

"Always lock your car doors," said the chief. "Close your car door windows. We also want you to remove any valuable items from your car. You also want to remove any garage door remotes from the vehicle because that's how they are getting into the houses. It's an inconvenience, but that's an easy in. All they have to do is put that button and it opens your garage right up."

Police have posted a number of photographs of the suspects taken from various surveillance systems throughout the community.

"We are still attempting to obtain more from community sources," said police.

The department is requesting that any residents in the affected areas to check their surveillance footage for additional videos and send them to: BSchaffer@warringtonpd.org.
