Americans for Native Americans (ANA) is delighted to have Jasmine Pickner, a world champion hoop dancer with us on November 9. Jasmine will be joined by the Native American-Lakota, Dakota, and Northern Arapahoe Dance Troupe.
During the performance, each dancer will describe the history of their dance and help the audience understand the purpose of their unique regalia. There are individual performances as well as group dances special to the each culture. Throughout the program, there are various teachings, both modern and historical, to keep the audience captivated. In addition to the hoop dance, you will see the grass dance, jingle dance, and fancy shawl dance. Following the performance, there will be an opportunity for the audience to participate in classes for each style of dance.
