NEW BRITAIN, PA — After years of serving the community from its Butler Avenue location, the New Britain Food Pantry will be relocating to a new home this summer in nearby Warrington Township.

Earlier this month, pantry leaders signed a lease with Warrington Township on the former Mill Creek School building at 3400 Pickertown Road.

The pantry’s final day of operation at 22 E. Butler Avenue, New Britain, will be August 12. After August 12, the pantry will temporarily close while volunteers relocate inventory, equipment, shelving, and food supplies to the new facility.

The pantry is scheduled to reopen on September 9 at its new home in Warrington.

“This move comes with mixed emotions because of the many years of ministry and service that took place at our Butler Avenue location,” said Cindy Field, Executive Director of the New Britain Food Pantry. “At the same time, we see this as an opportunity to strengthen our services and reach even more neighbors in need throughout the Central Bucks and New Hope-Solebury communities.”

Field added, “We are especially grateful to Warrington Township for their partnership and support in providing a new home for the pantry. Their commitment to helping residents and supporting community organizations has made this next chapter possible.”

Field said while the move creates exciting growth opportunities, it brings significant expenses. The pantry is currently raising funds to help stock shelves at the new location and relocate its walk-in freezer, a critical resource for storing and distributing perishable foods to local families.

“As we prepare for this next chapter, we are asking individuals, community organizations, and local businesses to consider supporting the pantry,” said Field. “Whether through financial contributions, sponsorships, or donations, every gift helps us continue providing food and hope to families who rely on our services.”

Community members and businesses interested in supporting the pantry’s transition are encouraged to contact the organization directly.

The New Britain Food Pantry is a 100 percent volunteer-run organization dedicated to providing food assistance and support to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity within the Central Bucks School District and New Hope-Solebury School District communities.

Through the generosity of volunteers, donors, local businesses, faith communities, and community partners, the pantry works to ensure that neighbors in need have access to nutritious food and compassionate support.

As community needs continue to grow, Field said the New Britain Food Pantry remains committed to its mission of helping ensure that no neighbor goes hungry.

About The Pantry's New Home

In 1926, the original Mill Creek School was torn down and replaced by a school bearing the same name. The school opened in 1928 at 3400 Pickertown Road. It continued as a school until June 1951. It was one of the three schools that closed at the same time. It became the township administrative building in 1955 and continued in that role until the current municipal building opened on Easton Road. For several years after it closed, the former school housed kindergarten classes when Titus School became overcrowded. The township still owns the building, but it is now rented out.
