New Round Of Scams Making The Rounds: Doylestown Township Police

One scam involves someone impersonating an employee with the Bucks County Sheriff's Department.

DOYLESTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Another round of scams is making the rounds, according to the Doylestown Township Police Department.

One scam involves someone impersonating an employee with the Bucks County Sheriff’s Department and the other involves a “grandparent” being contacted about their grandchild being in an accident.

The Bucks County Sheriff scam involves a caller who tries to scare the person into believing there is a “monetary bond” that needs to be paid immediately or the police will come and arrest the them, police said. The caller will pressure the person to stay on the phone and eventually persuades them to buy gift cards to pay the “bond”.

The Grandparent scam involves a caller who pretends to be a grandchild who was just in a serious accident. A person in the other car was seriously injured and the grandchild needs money to help them get out of the situation, police said.

If anyone receives a call similar to any of these situations, hang up immediately and contact local police. Police will be able to help work through the situation.
