New Wawa Proposed In Doylestown Borough

A proposal for a Wawa at the former TD Bank branch on S. Main Street will be discussed Tuesday at the borough Planning Commission meeting.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — A proposal for a new Wawa in Doylestown Borough will be discussed Tuesday night at the Planning Commission meeting.

The proposal seeks to put a Wawa at the location of the former TD Bank branch, 425 South Main Street. The Borough Planning Commission is expected to discuss a zoning change during its meeting Tuesday, which starts at 7:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at Borough Hall.

Here is the current rendering of the proposal. Borough Manager John Davis said the plans are evolving and could be revised.

According to Davis, the Planning Commission is expected make a recommendation to Borough Council. A full Land Development submission would be required; "Council does not normally approve a zoning change unless and until all Planning details are satisfactory," Davis said.

He noted that would likely be a few months down the road.

Residents have already expressed opposition to the proposal, saying the new store will result in unwanted traffic, noise and light pollution. A flyer being distributed by opponents also says the Wawa would bring down property values in the area, and have a negative impact on local businesses.
