PennDOT To Begin Work On Wismer Road Bridge In Plumstead
Replacement of the span is scheduled to begin Monday, September 30; bridge to be closed through February

PLUMSTEAD TOWNSHIP, PA — Construction is scheduled to begin on Monday, September 30 on a project to replace the Wismer Road bridge over Hickory Creek in Plumstead Township.
Beginning on Monday, Sept. 30 and continuing through late February, Wismer Road will be closed between Ferry Road and Carversville Road. During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Point Pleasant Pike, Route 32 (River Road), Green Hill Road, Mechanicsville Road, Aquetong Road, and Carversville Road.
According to PennDOT, local access will be maintained. Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather-dependent.

Built in 1937, the existing 12-foot-long, 23-foot-wide single-span rolled steel I-beam bridge will be replaced with a single-span concrete box culvert. The structure carries an average of 1,289 vehicles per day. Wismer Road Bridge is one of seven structures in Bucks and Montgomery counties that PennDOT is rehabilitating or replacing under a $7.9 million project.
