Pennsylvania's Oldest Resident Dies At 113
Irene M. Ciuffolertti died Saturday, May 7. At 113, she was believed to be Pennsylvania's oldest resident.

The woman believed to be the oldest person in Pennsylvania has died.
Irene M. Ciuffolertti died Saturday. She was 113.
Born in 1903, Ciuffolertti of Arnold, Pa. had five sons. Four of her sons are deceased. Her living son, Julius, also lives in Arnold, a city in Westmoreland County.

According to the Gerontology Research Group, Ciuffoletti was the oldest person in the state and the fourth-oldest person in the United States.

Irene M. Ciuffolertti, 113, of Arnold, died Saturday, May 7, 2016 at St. Ann's Home, Greensburg. She was born Jan. 19, 1903, in Santa Arsenio, Italy, daughter of the late Francesco and Francesca Zito. She was the wife of the late Emilio Ciuffoletti, who died in 1957.
Besides her parents and husband, preceding her were four sons, Frank, Mario, Father Angelo and Arthur Ciuffoletti; two brothers, Michael and Salvatore Zito; and five sisters, Rose Pessolano, Pauline Zupo, Jennie Bosso, Vincie Reynolds and Antoinette Zito. She was a member of Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, New Kensington, Addolorata Society of the church.
She enjoyed cooking, music, singing, playing the piano and especially spending time with her family, and her faith was an important part of her life. Recently, she was honored with an award from the Addolorata Society of the church called the Irene Ciuffoletti Legacy Award, given to any parishioner who reaches the age of 100 years old.
Survivors include her son, Julius C. (Carol) Ciuffoletti, of Arnold; 11 grandchildren, Colleen (John) Savanna, David (Marlene) Ciuffoletti, Cheryl (John) Geisey, Judith Campana, Carol (Michael) Hansen, Eric (Kathy) Ciuffoletti, Robert Ciuffoletti, Mario (Elaine) Ciuffoletti, Angelo Ciuffoletti, Renee Raymon and Amy Ciuffoletti; 13 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the GIUNTA-BERTUCCI FUNERAL HOME INC., 1509 Fifth Ave., Arnold, JohnPaul Bertucci, owner-supervisor. Prayers of transfer will take place at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, followed by a funeral Mass at 1 p.m. in Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. St. Peter Memorial Gift Program, 100 Freeport Road, New Kensington, PA 15068.
