Pipe Replacement, Pothole Repairs To Impact Roads In Central Bucks

This week, pothole repairs continue, utility work will detour a portion of Almshouse Road and work will begin to replace a Hilltown bridge.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Roadway maintenance projects and utility work will result in delays on a handful of Central Bucks County roadways this week. Check out the following detours and road closures before heading out the door on your morning and afternoon commutes.

Pipe Replacement In Doylestown Township

DOYLESTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Almshouse Road in Doylestown Township will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, April 15 and 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a pipe replacement project. The closure will impact the roadway between Upper State Road and Lower State Road. During the closure, motorists are directed to use Upper State Road, Bristol Road, and Lower State Road. Local access will be maintained. Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

This Week's Central Bucks Pothole Repair List

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Beginning on Monday, April 15 PennDOT maintenance and contractor crews will be repairing deteriorated pavement on more than 45 state highways across the Philadelphia region, including three in Central Bucks County:

  • Bristol Road in Warwick and Warminster townships.
  • Rushland Road in Warwick and Wrightstown townships.
  • New Galena Road in New Britain Township.

Crews will restrict travel lanes on these state highways to patch areas of deteriorating pavement. Motorists are advised to be on alert for this moving operation and to expect intermittent lane closures and possible slowdowns when driving near work crews. All activities are weather dependent. Motorists that potholes and other roadway concerns on state roads can be reported by calling 1-800-FIX-ROAD or visiting www.penndot.pa.gov and clicking on “Submit Concern”.Since January 1, PennDOT has used more than 2,100 tons of asphalt to repair potholes across the five-county Philadelphia region.

Court Street Detoured In Doylestown Borough

DOYLETOWN BOROUGH, PA — PECO Energy will be performing utility construction on Court Street between Main Street and Clinton Street in Doylestown Borough through Friday, May 31. The weekday closure is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Main Street, Business U.S. 202 (Oakland Avenue), and Business U.S. 202 (Clinton Street). Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through or near the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Bridge Replacement To Impact Traffic In Hilltown

HILLTOWN, PA — Construction will begin on Monday, April 15 on a project to replace the Callowhill Road bridge over branch of Pleasant Spring Creek in Hilltown Township. Under this project, PennDOT’s contractor will replace the existing two-span masonry arch bridge with a single-span prestressed concrete spread box beam bridge. In addition, the roadway will be widened from 18 feet to 23 feet. Other improvements include pavement reconstruction, guiderail installation, and new signage and pavement markings. The 117-year-old structure, measuring 47-feet-long and 18-feet-wide, was closed September 2021 due to damage sustained from the remnants of Hurricane Ida. Prior to closing, the bridge was posted with a 34-ton weight limit and carried approximately 5,773 vehicles per day. During construction, Callowhill Road motorists will continue to follow Route 113 (Main Street), Route 151 (Walnut Street), and South Perkasie Road as the posted detour. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone. The closure will remain in place until the project completion in fall 2024. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent. Lobar Site Development Corporation of Dillsburg, York County, is the general contractor on the $1,763,335 project, which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds.

Roundabout Construction in Doylestown

DOYLESTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Easton Road and New Britain/Sauerman Road in Doylestown Township. Construction continues through the summer on the construction of two roundabouts. New Britain Road is reduced to one lane between Easton Road and Rolling Hill Boulevard. During the lane closure, motorists will be directed to use Lower State Road, U.S. 202, and Easton Road. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather-dependent.

PECO Utility Work In New Britain Township

NEW BRITAIN TOWNSHIP, PA — Continuing through Wednesday, June 26, PECO will be conducting utility work on County Line Road between Lexington Avenue and Walnut Street and between Maple Avenue and Trewigtown Road in New Britain Township. A weekday lane closure is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through or near the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather-dependent. PECO Energy will complete these projects under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.

New Hope-Lambertville Bridge Rehabilitation

NEW HOPE, PA — The rehabilitation of the New Hope-Lambertville Free Bridge continues through September. New Jersey-bound vehicles are being detoured via the Route 202 bridge. West bound traffic into Pennsylvania will continue to use the bridge. The walkway will remain open throughout the project.
