Police In Bucks County Warn Of Distraction Burglaries
In light of a recent incident, local police are warning residents to be cautious when someone comes to the door unannounced.

Police in Bucks County are warning local residents to be careful of unannounced visitors after a possible "distraction burglary" was reported in Upper Makefield. A distraction burglary is when someone attempts to distract you while another person they are with steals items from your house.
According to police, a Windy Bush Road resident reported the suspicious incident on March 4.
The resident said they answered the door that day to find a Hispanic woman dressed all in black with a badge around her neck. The woman told the resident that she was with the gas company; she was invited inside due to the cold temperatures, police said.

"Once inside, this woman asked our resident, how does your water taste? Our resident asked why, and was told that gas was leaking into her water supply. Since they do not have gas, they became very suspicious and asked the woman to leave," according to police.
The resident reported the woman left in a silver SUV with another occupant. The resident called 911 but officers were unable to locate the car.

"We believe the resident was the target of a distraction burglary," police said.
Meanwhile, police are warning residents to be cautious when someone comes to the door unannounced. If the person looks suspicious, always ask for identification. And ask yourself these questions:
- Are they in the proper uniform?
- Are they driving an appropriate work vehicle?
- Ask to speak with a supervisor, or police if the person seems suspicious
