Repaving, Utility And Bridge Work To Impact Roads In Central Bucks
Resurfacing continues along Butler Avenue; utility work in Doylestown Borough; and bridge projects in Hilltown and New Hope.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Roadway maintenance projects and utility work will result in delays on a handful of Central Bucks County roadways this week. Check out the following detours and road closures before heading out the door on your morning and afternoon commutes.
Resurfacing Operations Continue Along Butler Avenue
NEW BRITAIN/CHALFONT, PA —Milling and paving operations continue along Butler Avenue between County Line Road in New Britain Township and New Britain Road in Doylestown Township. Work is taking place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. through May 17. Motorists can expect periodic lane closures with flagging in New Britain Borough, Chalfont Borough and New Britain Township. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work zone because slowdowns will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent. Under the project, PennDOT’s contractors are repairing, milling, and repaving the roadway with new asphalt pavement that will seal it and provide motorists with a safer and smoother riding surface.

DOYLETOWN BOROUGH, PA — PECO Energy is performing utility construction on Court Street between Main and Clinton streets in Doylestown Borough through Friday, May 31. The weekday closure is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Main Street, Business U.S. 202 (Oakland Avenue), and Business U.S. 202 (Clinton Street). Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through or near the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
Bridge Replacement Underway In HilltownHILLTOWN, PA — Construction continues through the fall on a project to replace the Callowhill Road bridge over branch of Pleasant Spring Creekin Hilltown Township. Under this project, PennDOT’s contractor will replace the existing two-span masonry arch bridge with a single-spanprestressed concrete spread box beam bridge. In addition, the roadway will be widened from 18 feet to 23 feet. Other improvements include pavement reconstruction, guiderail installation, and new signage and pavement markings. The 117-year-old structure, measuring 47-feet-long and 18-feet-wide, was closed September 2021 due to damage sustained from the remnants of Hurricane Ida. Prior to the closing, the bridge was posted with a 34-ton weight limit and carried approximately 5,773 vehicles per day. During construction, Callowhill Road motorists will continue to follow Route 113 (Main Street), Route 151 (Walnut Street), and South Perkasie Road as the posted detour. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone. The closure will remain in place until the project completion in fall 2024. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent. Lobar Site Development Corporation of Dillsburg, York County, is the general contractor on the $1,763,335 project, which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds.PECO Utility Work In New Britain TownshipNEW BRITAIN TOWNSHIP, PA — Continuing through Wednesday, June 26, PECO will be conducting utility work on County Line Road between Lexington Avenue and Walnut Street and between Maple Avenue and Trewigtown Road in New Britain Township. A weekday lane closure is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through or near the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather-dependent. PECO Energy will complete these projects under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.

New Hope-Lambertville Bridge Rehabilitation
NEW HOPE, PA — The rehabilitation of the New Hope-Lambertville Free Bridge continues through September. New Jersey-bound vehicles are being detoured via the Route 202 bridge. West bound traffic into Pennsylvania will continue to use the bridge. The walkway will remain open throughout the project.
