Santorum Running for President (Again) in 2016
The former U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania says things will be different this time.

Rick Santorum has thrown his hat back in the ring.
The former U.S. senator from Pennsylvania will be running for president again in 2016, he told The Washington Post in an interview this week.

“We’re definitely the underdog in this race,” Santorum told The Washington Post. “We’re just obviously in a better place right now. Our message will be a lot more focused this time than it was last time.”
One thing that won’t be changing? The sweater vests, which will be making a return appearance, The Washington Post says.

Santorum’s announcement was somewhat of a surprise; in a November interview with Politco, Santorum had said he would wait to declare his candidacy (or not) until 2015.
Santorum had a surprisingly strong showing in the 2012 primaries, CNN said. For example, he beat eventual GOP candidate Mitt Romney in the Iowa caucuses (albeit only by 34 votes). He won in 11 states before dropping out in April.
