Search For Escaped Prisoner Called Off In Doylestown
Authorities have stopped a search for 26-year-old Daniel Selby, who escaped while being transported around 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
DOYLESTOWN, PA — Authorities in Doylestown have called off the search for a prisoner who escaped Sunday night while being transported by the Bucks County Sheriff's Department.
Doylestown Township Police said they received information that the prisoner, 25-year-old Daniel Selby, was aided in fleeing the area. Late Monday, police announced they had arrested Selby's father for giving him a ride to Philadelphia around 1 p.m. Monday.
Selby escaped around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, about 30 minutes after he was arrested in Montgomery County for failing to appear in court on a drug charge out of Bensalem, Central Bucks Regional Department Chief Jim Donnelly said.

Selby has no criminal history of violence.
He was picked up by the Bucks County Sheriff's Department, and as he was being transported asked to officers to stop because he was feeling sick and said he was going to throw up. He then pushed a deputy and ran away at Lower State and Bristol roads, Donnelly said.

He was seen at the 7-Eleven on Edison Furlong and Rt. 611 at 5:15 a.m.. At 5:20, he knocked on a door at 91 Edison Furlong Road, a former residence of his, said Donnelly. He did not enter the residence, he merely knocked and fled.
"Since that time we've been searching for him in the wooded areas," Donnelly said Monday morning. Authorities searched wooded areas off Route 611 and Edison Furlong Road.
A shelter in place was instituted late Sunday and called off Monday morning but authorities continued the search.
Doylestown Township Police say Selby was still handcuffed at the time he fled and is wearing an orange shirt wrapped in a "light colored blanket" to hide the cuffs. He has a scruffy beard, according to a description provided by Doylestown Township Police.
All Central Bucks schools were closed Monday as the search continued. Students at Council Rock's Wrightstown Elementary will be kept indoors during recess, and a charity kickball game planned there today has been postponed.
"Be vigilant and be sure to secure all out buildings and vehicles," police said.
