Each year during the annual Soroptimist International of the Americas North Atlantic Region (NAR) Spring Conference, the NAR Governor recognizes one club for its outstanding work and achievements by presenting the coveted Governor’s Cup. This significant award honors a club that demonstrates excellence across four key pillars: Impact (Programs), Engagement (Membership), Brand Recognition (Public Awareness), and Philanthropy (Fundraising). What makes this honor especially meaningful is its emphasis on measurable impact and intentional growth. On April 25th, Soroptimist International of Indian Rock (SIIR) was honored with the 2026 Governor’s Cup in recognition of its outstanding commitment and achievements. SIIR also received the Cup in 1998-1999 and 2017-2018.

NAR Governor Elizabeth Peterson reviewed the detailed applications submitted by clubs throughout the region—no small task, considering there are currently 41 clubs within the North Atlantic Region. Evaluation criteria included membership growth efforts, participation in the SIA Dream Programs, public awareness initiatives, fundraising success, and community outreach.

At the SIIR May 6th dinner meeting, where SIIR installed its 2026-2027 board of directors, District III Director Maria Leidy announced “Earning the NAR Governor’s Cup is a true mark of distinction. It signifies a club’s commitment to going above and beyond in serving its community, strengthening membership, increasing viability, and leading with purpose. Holding the cup is not only a symbol of excellence, but also a source of pride that fuels continued innovation and leadership. Ultimately, the Governor’s Cup represents the very best of Soroptimist: dedication, impact, collaboration, and an unwavering commitment to improving the lives of women and girls. Congratulations, Indian Rock!”
