JAMISON, PA — The Middle Bucks Institute of Technology has been awarded $1.489 million state grant through the Public School Facility Improvement Grant Program.

The grant, announced by State Senator Frank Farry and State Reps. Kristin Marcell, Sheby Labs, and Joe Hogan, will fund the replacement of 43 rooftop HVAC units and the building’s automation
system.

The project will not only enhance safety by integrating the HVAC system with smoke detectors, fire alarms and carbon monoxide sensors, but it also means that local property taxpayers won’t bear the burden of the upgrades.

With the state covering the costs, the investment benefits both the school and the community,
ensuring MBIT can continue to offer a safe learning environment, said the lawmakers.

“Investing in our educational institutions is vital to ensuring safe and effective learning environments,” said Marcell. “This grant will improve energy efficiency and strengthen the overall safety of the school. I was proud to advocate for these funds along with Reps. Shelby Labs

“I was happy to advocate for this funding, along with Rep. Marcell, for HVAC upgrades at Middle
Bucks Institute of Technology,” said Farry. “A safe and healthy learning environment is essential to ensuring our students, teachers and schools are successful.”

“These dollars will ensure our students and staff are learning in the best environment possible,” said Hogan. “I’m thankful my colleagues were able to secure these funds so that the cost of the project isn’t completely on local taxpayers.”

“It is critical we continue to invest in projects that contribute to the success of our students,” said Labs. “I am proud to support this funding, which will go a long way in protecting the health and safety of our students and teachers.”

“I am incredibly thankful for the support of Rep. Marcell and Sen. Ferry for this critical infrastructure improvement to MBIT. This project not only helps our school, but also supports our four sending districts, Centennial School District, Central Bucks School District, Council Rock School District and New Hope-Solebury School District,” said MBIT Administrative Director Dr. Mark Covelle. “MBIT, like many career and technical centers across the Commonwealth, is experiencing record interest, record enrollment and record achievement. This investment is important in meeting the needs of the school. The administration and executive council are profoundly grateful.”
