Temple Judea Gathered At Lake Galena To Cast Off Their Regrets
Members of the Reformed Synagogue in Furlong celebrated Rosh Hashanah at the Bucks County lake on Saturday.
NEW BRITAN TOWNSHIP, PA — On Rosh Hashanah, members of the Reform synagogue Temple Judea of Bucks County gathered at Lake Galena in Peace Valley Park to symbolically cast off their regrets from the past year and listen to the shofar being blown.
Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year marking the "birthday of the world." The festival of Rosh Hashanah 5787 began at sundown on Friday and ended after nightfall on Sunday.
The central observance of Rosh Hashanah is the blowing the shofar (ram’s horn) on both mornings of the holiday (except on Shabbat), which is normally done in synagogue as part of the day’s services.
