World-Renowned Vienna Boys Choir Returning To Bucks Co.
The youth ensemble will present a concert featuring sacred works and classical selections at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Buckingham.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — The Vienna Boys Choir, a renowned youth ensemble, will return to Doylestown as part of the Bucks County Playhouse Community Arts Series. The single performance is scheduled for Sunday, March 8, at 4 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe R.C. Church, located at 5194 Cold Spring Creamery Road in Buckingham.
The concert marks the choir's return to Doylestown, following its last appearance in December 2023. The ensemble has a history spanning more than six centuries, known for its purity of tone and diverse repertoire. The Vienna Boys Choir is composed of four touring groups, representing various nations, and performs more than 300 concerts globally each year.
The choir's origins trace back to 1498, established by Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I as the Imperial Court Chapel in Vienna. Historically, it attracted composers such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Anton Bruckner. Joseph Haydn, Michael Haydn, and Franz Schubert were once choirboys themselves.

Currently operating as a private, nonprofit organization, the Vienna Boys Choir maintains an extensive music education program. This program includes primary, junior, and senior high schools situated in Vienna’s Augarten park. Approximately 300 students, aged 6 to 19, receive vocal instruction and perform in the choir’s various ensembles. The educational mission is open to students from all backgrounds, regardless of nationality, origin, or religion.
UNESCO recognizes the Vienna Boys Choir’s singing tradition as intangible cultural heritage in Austria. The choir frequently performs with major orchestras and at prestigious venues worldwide, including the Salzburg Festival and the Vienna Philharmonic’s New Year’s Concert.
