A 21-year-old Penn State student from Warrington died after a horrific accident Friday in State College.

A 21-year-old Penn State student from Bucks County died after a horrific accident Friday in State College.

Shannon Mathers, of Warrington, was electrocuted before falling from the roof of a three-story home in State College, sources say.

The accident happened after she grabbed a wire and then fell from a roof, PennLive.com reports. Mathers died of electrocution and her death was ruled accidental, the Centre County coroner told the publication.

The incident reportedly happened at around 5:40 p.m. at the corner of South Barnard Street and West College Avenue. The Centre Daily Times cites sources that say the wire was "high voltage." A photo of the accident scene can be viewed here.

Mathers was an EMT with the Centre LifeLine EMS. The organization posted a tribute to the Bucks County native on social media, saying she was a "bright young woman with a polite and easy going personality, and had planned on a future in medicine."

She was majoring in Biobehavioral Health and also worked in the dietary department at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements are being handled though the Shelly Funeral Home. Arrangement specifics have not yet been announced.
