DOYLESTOWN, PA — Doylestown Borough’s newest redevelopment project is underway at the corner of Franklin and West State Street.

Demolition crews moved in recently and tore down the former Striker soccer supplies store, the former Repco auto parts store, and a detached house and garage.

Worth & Worth, which owns the property, received plan approval in the fall from the Doylestown Borough Council to demolish the empty buildings

According to the plans, the new retail building will include three retail spaces, the largest one measuring 2,000 square feet, and the other two at 1,900 and 1,607 square feet.

Modern office, retail, and personal service uses are permitted uses in the Central Commercial zoning district.

The new retail building will be served by a parking lot to be built behind the new building and accessible from North Franklin Street via an alleyway.

According to Worth & Worth, the proposed retail use “is consistent with the borough’s current zoning and land use vision and land use map.” And they added that “redevelopment of nonconforming uses to permit retail uses is oconsistent with the borough’s land use and economic development strategy.”
