What's Next for CB West After Hazing Allegations?

The administration at Central Bucks School District has laid out its plans to prevent hazing in the future.

As a packed room expressed their frustration over the cancellation of the Central Bucks West football season during a school board meeting Tuesday, the district’s administration explained their plans for moving forward and preventing a repeat of the events that have transpired over the past week.

The school’s football season was cancelled last week as district and law enforcement officials look into allegations of hazing that happened at a team picnic in August.

Superintendent David Weitzel, who made the announcement to cancel the season just one day before the much-anticipated homecoming game against Central Bucks East, said the district is taking the following steps to prevent future hazing at Central Bucks schools:

  • Beginning with winter sports in November, the athletic director and school administrators will speak to all teams at secondary schools to review the Code of Conduct as well as acceptable team building activities versus prohibited hazing.
  • The athletic director will discuss a plan for locker room supervision with each head coach prior to each season.
  • A complete review will be conducted of all policies and procedures regarding all extra-curricular activities.
