1. Erie police impound vehicles, seek suspects in shots-fired incident (goerie.com) — Erie police are investigating an Aug. 18 shots-fired incident on East 19th Street, where one vehicle appeared to chase and fire at another but caused no reported injuries or damage. Detectives have impounded two vehicles from different eastside locations and plan to serve search warrants as they continue searching for suspects.
   

2. E-Bike Safety Concerns Grow Following Recent Accidents (erienewsnow.com) — Erie police are warning riders that many local e-bikes are too fast or powerful to be legal and may actually count as motorcycles, requiring registration, insurance, and a motorcycle license. Officers say they're seeing more crashes in Erie and nearby communities, and they're reminding residents to follow bicycle laws, understand speed and weight limits, and avoid illegal electric skateboards and scooters on city streets and sidewalks.
   

3. Erie County Dept. of Health officials allow one KFC location to reopen (goerie.com) — One of the two Erie-area KFCs recently shut down by the Erie County Department of Health, the 4410 Buffalo Road location, has been cleared to reopen after corrective work. Inspectors are revisiting the 1116 Parade Street restaurant, while three of four local KFCs have faced temporary closures since late July, raising ongoing food-safety concerns for Erie customers.
   

4. Erie SeaWolves Honor Jack Schumacher (erienewsnow.com) — An Erie resident living with early-onset Alzheimer's has been honored as an Erie Hometown Hero during a SeaWolves game, recognizing his June campaign to raise awareness of the disease. Jack Schumacher and his daughter Rylee completed a 100-mile run-and-bike challenge, inspiring many across the Erie area with his daily determination and positive outlook.
   

5. Erie's Katie Scott Named to U.S. U-20 World Cup Team (erienewsnow.com) — Erie native and Fairview High School graduate Katie Scott has been named to the U.S. Under-20 Women's National Team for the 2026 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland. The Kansas City Current defender will represent Erie on the international stage again after earlier youth national team successes, as Team USA opens play against Italy on September 6.
