After nearly 40 years of serving customers, locally-owned BBS Jewelers is closing its doors for good.

Opened in 1987 by Brad B. Smith, the jewelry store has built a reputation in the community for its quality craftsmanship and excellent customer service. As BBS Jewelers prepares to close, the store is hosting a major going-out-of-business sale that is now open to the public.

“The closing is bittersweet because we’ve built lasting friendships with a lot of customers over the years,” said John Trout, the store’s manager.

The store’s going-out-of-business sale will give customers one last chance to shop the extensive remaining inventory at deep discounts. The sale features a wide range of fine jewelry, from diamonds and colored gemstones to larimar and sterling silver pieces.

The store initially opened in Greencastle and moved to its current location in State Line in 2019. Smith passed away in 2020, leaving the shop in the capable hands of his wife, Kassy and longtime staff such as Trout and Angela Stark.

“Brad was a fantastic boss – very generous, very kind. He always loved to give everybody the best deal, that was his passion,” said Stark, who has been with the store for more than 20 years.

After more than four decades in business, the store has served generations of customers. “We pride ourselves on the fact that we don’t just want to sell you today, we are a family here – customers trust us,” said Stark.
