Juniper Village Encourages Youth to Consider Careers in Senior Living

Juniper Communities, a leader in personal care communities, Lebanon location teamed up with local youth to show them the possibilities a career in senior living could create.

Graduating high school can be overwhelming for some and exciting for others. Some students know exactly what they want their future to look like, and others may not have a clue. Either way, Juniper Village at Lebanon invited students to prepare for their future by working at the personal care community the summer before they embark on their post high school lives.

“Working at this community has opened my eyes to a wholesome experience and quality of life,” explains 18-year-old Nursing major Maria Skulski. “I’ve learned to use patience and kindness in what I do, and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.”

Juniper Village at Lebanon Executive Director Erin Garcia was impressed with the students’ work ethic and willingness to learn. “It’s so hard to get young individuals to join the work force in senior living. This program has proven to be beneficial to both our residents and the younger generation who joined us this summer.”

Working with the seniors of the personal care community has provided the opportunity for the students to gain essential work experience.

Jaron Garcia, a soon to be Accounting and Sports Management major states, “The most important learning aspect I was taught at Juniper was effective team cooperation. I learned how to work with other staff members, directors, and even residents to achieve happiness and efficiency within the workplace.”
