What we know about hotel coming to Harrisburg as part of $64M revitalization (pennlive.com) — A major $64 million revitalization push is bringing a new Courtyard by Marriott hotel to 333 Market Street in downtown Harrisburg, alongside upgrades to Riverfront Park and North Front Street. Backed by significant state funding and private investment, the project aims to boost tourism, support small businesses, and add new apartments, with plans heading to the Harrisburg City Planning Commission in early October.
   

2. Pa. animal shelters take in 50+ dogs from controversial Texas shelter (pennlive.com) — More than 50 dogs from a Texas rescue have been surrendered to Pennsylvania shelters, with several now resting at the Humane Society of the Harrisburg Area. After a coordinated effort by Brandywine Valley SPCA and Texas authorities, the dogs are receiving medical care and will be quarantined before adoption. Harrisburg-area residents will soon have a chance to help rehome these animals or support their care through donations.
   

3. Alex's Chili Cook Off raises scholarship funds in chef's honor (local21news.com) — Central Pennsylvania residents, including those from Harrisburg, are invited to Dillsburg this Saturday for Alex's Chili Cook-Off, where local chefs and the ACF Harrisburg Chapter will raise scholarship funds in memory of chef Alex Smith. The family-friendly event offers unlimited chili tastings, live music, raffles, and games, with proceeds supporting HACC culinary students and area high schoolers. He received a year of probation, while authorities stress the health risks of unapproved SARMs and SERMs sold online.
