• $1.3B Harrisburg Bridge Project Begins Soon (iheart.com) — A decade-long, $1.3 billion project to replace I-83's South Bridge connecting Harrisburg to the West Shore is set to start in January 2027, promising major long-term congestion relief but years of construction disruption. PennDOT, backed largely by federal funding, will rebuild the bridge, rework nearby interchanges, and reconstruct key viaducts, with bidding beginning this fall.
   

• Chihuahua named Petey recovering after being thrown from moving vehicle (local21news.com) — A small dog named Petey is recovering after rescuers say he was thrown from a moving vehicle in Harrisburg's Allison Hill neighborhood and then struck by another car. Castaway Critters and Harrisburg Police Animal Control are investigating, canvassing the area, and seeking his previous owner while donors and a foster family support Petey's long physical and emotional recovery.
   

• Shapiro Administration Expands Successful Talent Pipeline, Welcomes Third Cohort (pa.gov) — From Harrisburg, the Shapiro administration is welcoming the third cohort of Sci-Tech fellows, bringing advanced STEM talent into key state agencies to modernize services and expand responsible use of AI. The program, alongside other fellowships and internships, is growing a pipeline of skilled workers for state government and could open new career paths for Pennsylvanians interested in public service.
