Delco Honoring Narcan-Using, Life-Saving Police Officers Friday

Law enforcement leaders, the Delaware County DA, and those whose lives were saved by officers with Narcan will all be present at the event.

DREXEL HILL, PA – Police officers in Delaware County who have saved lives by using Narcan on people overdosing from opioids will be honored Friday in Drexel Hill, Delaware County officials announced.

At noon on Friday, Oct. 27 at Drexelbrook, Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan will hold a ceremony to recognize the success of the county-wide law enforcement nalaxone program and honor police for their heroic life-saving actions.

Since the implementation of the program three years ago, police have saved more than 920 lives in Delaware County.

The county's program went on to serve as a model for the state, officials said.

Those who have been revived with Narcan by law enforcement will be attending the ceremony, along with family members to thank police for their life-saving efforts.

When David’s Law went into effect in Nov. 2014, Delaware County was the first in the state to train and equip all of its police officers with naloxone, officials said.

Pennsylvania State Police followed suit, along with police departments following in Delaware County’s footsteps, according to county officials.

Drexelbrook is located at 4700 Drexelbrook Drive, Drexel Hill.
