Earth Day Celebration, April 23rd, 9 am - noon

Join the Earth Day Celebration at the Community Recreation and Environmental Center, 9000 Parkview Drive, Haverford

The Haverford Earth Day Celebration offers kids activities, free trees (while supplies last), live music, a plant swap, green vehicle display (including a Tesla) and more. Learn about a wide range of environmental topics - including how to get your own Rain Garden.

Kids activities include seed planting, bird and bee friendly crafts and the watershed and recycling games. Get advice on green power, recycling, composting, gardening, bee keeping, and more. Go to the Haverford Recreation web site to register for an Organic Gardening class (pre-registration required, $10).

There is a plant swap and we are accepting donations of Rain Garden plants that will be given a new home in one of ten Hav-a-Rain Garden locations this year.  If you have spreading Bee Balm, Black-Eyed Susan, Coneflower, Cardinal Flower or Foam Flower - just thin them out and put in 4 to 6 inch pots and drop them off.  Haverford Residents who want a rain garden can email havaraingarden@gmail.com to request an assessment at your home.
