Haverford Township School District Among PA's Safest, Niche Says

HAVERTOWN, PA – After the tragic shooting at a school in Florida, student safety is at the forefront of the national discussion. One data compiler has revealed which Pennsylvania school districts rank highest in this category.

How did the School District of Haverford Township fare in Niche.com's list of the Safest School Districts for 2018?

Based on information from the U.S. Department of Education, the FBI, parent reviews and other data, SDHT was ranked the 49th safest in PA.

My experience at Haverford was delightful yet challenging. My favorite piece of the high school life was getting to know my peers, teachers and counselor. It is a very supportive atmosphere that always encourages students to pursue their goals and dreams. I was in the Haverford School district for elementary, middle, and high school. Most of my teachers were very nice and helpful. Many AP teachers are very qualified and prepare students well for the exams. There were many clubs to choose from and if you didn't find any to your liking you could easily start your own! The faculty sometimes hindered the experience for some students, but overall I enjoy my time at Haverford!

I transferred into the district my sophomore year of high school and I was so nervous. I was worried I wouldn't make friends and use this change as an excuse to fall behind inclass. Thankfully, I met great friends right away and the teachers always helped me if i needed it to make sure I was always on top of my work. I can't imagine going to school anywhere else!

To compile the ranking, 50 percent was based on parent and student surveys on health and safety. Student absenteeism, suspensions and expulsions were also factored into the rankings, well as percentage of students referred to law enforcement and school-related arrests.
