DARBY TOWNSHIP, PA — A commissioner for a Delaware County township turned himself in to police on charges of rape, sexual assault, corruption of a minor, and more crimes.
Marvin Smith, 50, was taken into custody after he turned himself in to Philadelphia Police in connection with a rape that occurred several years ago.
Charges filed against Smith, who is Darby Township's First Ward Commissioner, include involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, luring a child into a vehicle, indecent assault and indecent exposure, unlawful restraint, and rape.

He was released on $100,000 bail, court records show.
According to Action News, Smith is accused of raping a male in 2017, who came forward to police in 2019, after driving him to an area in Cobbs Creek Park on the 200 block of South 63rd Street.

Darby Township officials said the legal case needs to play out before any action can be taken against Smith.
Smith's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 5 in Philadelphia, court records show.
