INGLEWOOD, CA — World, meet Media native Auston Trusty.

The United States fell, 3-2, to Türkiye on Thursday night at SoFi Stadium. But in the third minute, Trusty scored his first goal in international competition and the second-fastest goal in U.S. Men's National Team history.

Born and raised in Media, Trusty was on the national team's radar since childhood. In fact, Patch interviewed Trusty in 2011, when the 12-year-old was a multi-sport athlete and Springton Lake Middle School's seventh-grade student council president.

Trusty played soccer at Penncrest High School before joining the Philadelphia Union's youth program. He made his Major League Soccer debut with the Union in 2016.

Professionally, Trusty has competed with European clubs the past few years and currently plays for Scottish powerhouse Celtic FC.

Before Thursday's match, the U.S. already clinched the top spot in its group with victories against Paraguay and Australia. So the loss to Türkiye doesn't impact the team's placement in the knockout rounds.

When the knockout rounds begin with the Round of 32, every World Cup match is win-or-go-home from that point on.

The U.S. will face Bosnia and Herzegovina at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Bay Area.
