SEPTA Proposes Fare Hikes Starting In July

Pubilc hearings in Delaware, Chester, Montgomery, Bucks, and Philadelphia counties will be held to discuss the proposed increases.

SEPTA announced its proposed fare increases for fiscal year 2018, as well as dates for public hearings on the proposed increases.

Hearings will be held on the following dates and times and locations:

  • 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., April 19, Delaware County Court House, County Council Room - 1st Floor, 302 W. Front St., Media;
  • 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday, April 20, Bucks County Free Library, Pearl Buck Room, 150 S. Pine St., Doylestown;
  • 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, April 21, West Chester Borough Hall, Council Chambers, 401 E. Gay St., West Chester;
  • 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday April 24, Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority Board Room, 1234 Market St., Philadelphia;
  • 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday, April 25, Montgomery County Human Services Center Community Room - Main Floor, 1430 DeKalb St., Norristown.

According to SEPTA, the 2016 fare hike was postponed as the agency was deploying the SEPTA Key system.

Check out some of the proposed fare changed for FY 2018 below:

  • Cash/Quick Trip – $2.25 to $2.50
  • SEPTA Token – $1.80 to $2
  • Weekly TransPass – $24 to $25
  • Monthly TransPass – $91 to $96
  • Convenience Pass – $8 to $9
  • Disabled Fare – $1 to $1.25
  • PATCO Joint Fare – $3.10 to $3.50
  • Paratransit/Shared Ride – $4 to $4.25
  • Frankford Garage Monthly Payment – $42.75 to $45

SEPTA said anyone who wants to file written comments should send them to the Director of Operating Budget, Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, 1234 Market St., 9th Floor, Philadelphia, PA 19107 by May 1, 2017 so that they may be forwarded to the Hearing Examiner.
