Third Person Charged In Delaware County Double Homicide

CHESTER, PA — Another person has been charged in connection with a double homicide in Chester that occurred in February, authorities said.

Darren Majeed, 28, of Wilmington, Delaware, has been charged with criminal homicide, first-, second-, and third-degree murder, firearm crimes, and related charges.

Majeed has not yet been arrested, authorities said.

Majeed is the third person to be charged in connection with the double homicide of Rasheen Jones, 20, and Kwann Henderson, 19, both of Philadelphia, at about 7:23 p.m.on Feb. 1 at West 3rd and Lamokin Streets in Chester. Jones was an aspiring rapper known as RunUp Rico.

A Tracy Williams, 17, and a Namai Melvin, 15, both of Chester, are also facing criminal homicide, first-, second- and third- degree murder, robbery, theft, possession of a firearm by a minor, conspiracy, and related charges. Melvin was just 14 years old when the shooting deaths occurred.

Authorities said Williams and Majeed texted one another about robbing Jones and Henderson for money and marijuana.

Chester Police were called to West 3rd and Lamokin Streets at about 7:23 p.m. on Feb. 1 for a report of a gunshot victim.

Officers found a silver Chevrolet Impala that appeared to have crashed into a building on the 1100 block of West Third Street. Two men, later identified as Jones and Henderson, were found in the vehicle, both of whom had sustained gunshot wounds. Jones was pronounced dead at the scene and Henderson died at Crozier Chester Medical Center.

Detectives got surveillance video from inside and outside a convenience store at 1100 W. Third St.

Through the video, detectives were able to identify Melvin, who was arrested and charged in February.

The video footage was also viewed by two witnesses, and each was able to confirm the identity of the Melvin.

Further investigation revealed that on the day of his murder, Jones exchanged several text messages with two cell phone numbers, one belonging to Williams and the other to Majeed, authorities said.

The messages discussed a location to meet, and an estimated time of arrival.

Additionally, photos and video clips were exchanged with the same two cell phone numbers with images and information regarding high grade marijuana, prices and quantities.

On March 4, Detective Tyler got a search warrant for the girl's phone, which revealed messages that corresponded to those on Jones's phone about marijuana amounts, prices, and the location of the meet-up.

Authorities said text messages between Williams and Majeed discussed their intention to rob Jones for the marijuana, but that they did not want it to appear that they were working together.

Included in the cell record was an image of Jones, which Williams exchanged with Majeed to confirm Jones as the target of the robbery.
