West Nile Case Discovered in Haverford

19 cases were reported in the Greater Philadelphia area.

An instance of West Nile virus appeared in Haverford on Friday, according to a release from the state Department of Environmental Protection.

According to the statement, a mosquito that tested positive for West Nile was found in Haverford. The mosquito was one of five West Nile-positives found in Delaware County on Friday: cases were found in Bethel, Upper Chichester and Upper Darby.

DEP and county WNV staff are responding with additional surveillance and control as needed, according to the statement.
