School Newsletter Includes Reminder about Student Attire
Saucon Valley Middle School students should not wear revealing garments or flip-flops, the February-March-April school newsletter states.
February-March-April newsletter includes an important reminder about student dress.
"Any form of dress, hairstyle, footwear, etc. that attracts undue attention, is unsafe, disrupts school or detracts from the learning process is not acceptable," the newsletter states.
The reminder includes specific guidelines for male and female students.

"Low cut, revealing tops are inappropriate for our female learners," it states. "Low rise pants that expose undergarments are inappropriate for our male learners."
The reminder encourages parents and students to exercise "good judgment" when choosing attire that is to be worn to school, and lists the following examples of clothing that is "inappropriate" in the school setting:

- See-through clothing
- Short shorts and short skirts
- Hats
- Clothing that exposes the back
- Clothing that exposes the midriff
- Shirts with straps
- Dirty or torn clothing
- Clothing that features inappropriate printed material, such as graphics that advertise or promote alcoholic beverages, drugs, tobacco, sex or obscene language.
- Flip-flops
"The way you dress can affect your attitude, performance and behavior, as well as that of others," the reminder in the newsletter states. "Should a student’s choice of dress be deemed inappropriate, the student will be asked to call home for appropriate dress or (to) use a shirt or jacket to cover and/or be assigned a disciplinary action."
