HATBORO / HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —With the upcoming 2023-2024 school year approaching, the superintendent of the Hatboro-Horsham School District provided an update on staff additions and some facilities upgrades.

Schools Superintendent Scott Eveslage said the school district has added 24 new staff members who recently experienced new teacher induction week.

He said the positions are for teachers, counselors, and instructional specialists.

The staff members are serving students across all six schools. Some of the staff members were with the school district last year, joining after September. But now they will be entering their first full year, he said.

The district recently announced the addition of six new teachers during a recent school board meeting.

Eveslage provided an update on the construction of the new $125 million Keith Valley Middle School. In late May, officials held a groundbreaking ceremony. Construction began on the new school earlier this year.

He said that construction is well underway with the steel framework of the new building now visible.

The new school will replace the aging Keith Valley Middle School and is planned to open for the 2025-2026 school year.

After years of studies, a new school was considered the best of several options when the school board voted on the project late last year.

At other school facilities:

  • The high school gymnasium is being renovated over the summer. This includes a new gym floor, bleachers, baskets, and painting.
  • Security measures have been taken at every building, including camera replacement and additional securing of designated areas.
  • There have been several maintenance projects in each building, including window replacement at Simmons, a cooling tower at Blair Mill, and sealcoating and striping of parking lots at Hallowell.

Eveslage recently chatted with Patch about the upcoming school year and the challenges the district faces this year along with the accomplishments from last year.
