Just over a month since longtime Councilman George Bollendorf resigned, Councilman Don Hoover's resignation was accepted at Monday night's Borough Council meeting.

His resignation was effective on Monday.

Hoover joined the council in September 2024, replacing Todd A'Harrah, who had stepped down. Hoover won re-election to council last November.

Hoover, who has lived in the borough for over 30 years, has been employed by the Hatboro-Horsham School District since 2002.

Hoover worked at Pennypack School, starting as a duty aid and playground monitor before progressing to the building facility coordinator. He is currently the facility coordinator at Crooked Billet School.

It was unknown at this time why Hoover was resigning from his position.

Bollendorf joined the Borough Council after being elected in 2018. He was re-elected in November and started his third term on Jan. 1.

At the council's last meeting of the year in December, Bollendorf announced that he would be stepping down as council president after eight years in the position.

Erin McCuen was appointed as Bollendorf's replacement at a meeting earlier this month. The fourth-generation Hatboro resident has been involved in numerous borough activities.

Borough Manager Diane Hegele said the Borough of Hatboro is accepting letters of interest to fill the vacancy.

Eligible applicants must be a resident of the Borough for at least one (1) year continuously prior to the appointment and must be a registered voter in the Borough.

Any interested and qualified person shall submit a letter of interest and/or resume via email to dhegele@myhatboro.org or by mail to 414 South York Road, Hatboro PA, 19040, to the attention of Diane C. Hegele, Borough Manager/Secretary.

Applications will be accepted until end of business day, Wednesday, May 13.

Consideration of an appointment is tentatively scheduled at the Council's May 18 meeting.

Anyone with questions should contact Hegele at 215-443-9100.
