
Dr. David McPhillips, principal of the Horsham-based Primary Eye Care Associates, has been named the 25th VOSH/International Fellow.
The Fellowship Program, said VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity)/International, was established “to acknowledge the skills and experience needed for a VOSH member to advise on the global challenge of preventable blindness, to foster the development of future leaders to meet the challenge of VISION 20/20, and to prepare those who may be asked to consult with governmental agencies, private or public educational institutions, and the media on issues related to the mission of VOSH/International.
McPhillips, who has been a member of VOSH since 1987, is co-founder of the Pennsylvania and Delaware chapters and president-elect of the VOSH International Board of Directors. He has led or participated in more than 40 medical missions.

In addition to his practice in Horsham, McPhillips, who received his OD from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, is director of Eye Care Services for the Genesis Health Systems Geriatric and Rehabilitation Center. He is past president of the Pennsylvania Optometric Association and is active in the American Optometric Association, the American Academy of Optometry, the Pennsylvania Vision Conservation Institute and the Philadelphia County Optometric Society. The Pennsylvania Optometric Association and the Philadelphia Optometric Society have three times named him Optometrist of the Year.
VOSH/ International is a voluntary nonprofit organization whose primary goal is to facilitate the provision of vision care worldwide to people who can neither afford nor obtain such care.
