HATBORO / HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —Now that the Labor Day weekend has passed, the start of school kicks into gear as the Hatboro-Horsham School District welcomes students back to class on Tuesday.

The school district has two new top administrators, numerous new teachers, and lots of projects as the district begins the 2023-2024 school year.

The district is welcoming about 25 new staff members this year, including teachers, counselors, and instructional specialists to serve at its six schools.

Meanwhile, facility upgrades have also been made. They include:

  • The high school gymnasium is being renovated over the summer. This includes a new gym floor, bleachers, baskets, and painting.
  • Security measures have been taken at every building, including camera replacement and additional securing of designated areas.
  • There have been several maintenance projects in each building, including window replacement at Simmons, a cooling tower at Blair Mill, and seal coating and striping of parking lots at Hallowell.

While work on the gymnasium has progressed, the project will be delayed until November as the district awaits the arrival of new bleachers.

Work is also progressing on the new Keith Valley Middle School.

Construction is well underway with the steel framework of the new building now visible. The new school will replace the aging Keith Valley Middle School and is planned to open for the 2025-2026 school year.

Over the summer, the school district also appointed a new assistant superintendent and a director of educational programming.

Ted Domers will serve as assistant superintendent, replacing Monica J. Taylor, who announced in early February that she would retire at the end of the school year after 22 years with the district.

Domers joins Andre’ McLaurin, the director of educational programming. Both started their tenure on July 1.

Schools Superintendent Scott Eveslage recently chatted with Patch about the upcoming school year and the challenges the district faces this year along with the accomplishments from last year.
