"GypsyBlu is a fantastic business," Stapleton said. "What he's planning to do is spectacular. It is such a draw for Hatboro. Everyone will be excited."
Stapleton cited Ross's track record and 45 years in the restaurant business, including 19 years with TGIF.
Ross took over the GypsyBlu Amber location in June 2020 during the pandemic and has the business thriving, winning numerous Best of Montgomery County restaurant awards.
"He will be a fabric in the community," Stapleton said.
Before the decision, some residents and business owners spoke out about what it would mean to have an establishment from the owner of GypsyBlu Amber in the heart of the downtown business district.
"It's a wonderful company. We'd be happy to have them in Hatboro," one resident said.
"This is the beginning of the revitalization of this town," a business owner said. "This will elevate the town. Other restaurants will follow."
Ross told Patch before the meeting that he hopes to open a month or so after the liquor license is obtained.
"Thank you for investing in our town," Council President George Bollendorf said. "We really appreciate it."
