📰 News we're reading

1. 11 facing drug charges in district courts (sungazette.com) — A Jersey Shore resident is among 11 people recently charged with drug offenses in Lycoming County district courts, with her case tied to an incident on Railroad Street in the borough. Other defendants face serious counts involving meth, cocaine, marijuana, and stolen firearms across nearby townships and Williamsport, with several held on significant bail as cases proceed.

2. Area police charge 7 motorists with DUI (sungazette.com) — Several Jersey Shore residents are among seven motorists recently charged with DUI in Lycoming County, with incidents occurring on borough streets and nearby townships. The charges, all from crashes or traffic stops over the summer, also include various summary offenses and, in one case, marijuana and paraphernalia counts. All cases are now moving through local district courts.

3. Shikellamy enters Top 10; Shamokin remains in top spot (2822news.com) — Jersey Shore's Bulldogs have dropped out of the regional Top Ten after back-to-back losses to Shamokin and Shikellamy, both of whom now sit high in the rankings. The weekly list highlights how dominant several District IV programs remain, while noting Jersey Shore is still on voters' radar just outside the top tier as the season heads into tougher matchups.

4. This 65-Mile Pennsylvania Trail Just Took the Top Honor (mychesco.com) — Jersey Shore sits at the southern end of the Pine Creek Rail Trail, which has just been named Pennsylvania's 2026 Trail of the Year. The 65-mile route draws tens of thousands of visitors and millions in economic activity, and recent investments extended it directly into downtown Wellsboro with new trailheads, amenities, and safer connections for walkers and cyclists.
