2 Mosquitoes In Hatfield Test Positive For West Nile Virus
Two mosquitoes have tested positive for West Nile Virus in Hatfield over the past few weeks.
HATFIELD, PA — Two mosquitoes have tested positive for West Nile Virus in Hatfield over the past few weeks.
The first sample was found on Aug. 14, and then another sample was found on Aug. 27, according to the state's Department of Environmental Protection.
Officials did not specify exactly where the infected mosquitoes were found.

No chemical spraying has yet been scheduled for Hatfield or the nearby area for summer 2019, though Montgomery County townships like Abington and Whitemarsh were sprayed this month.
West Nile is a potentially serious mosquito-transmitted disease that can cause illness or death, the board said. Though most people who are infected with the disease do not have symptoms, others may experience mild or flu-like symptoms such as headache, fever, nausea, vomiting, swollen lymph glands, and rash. In rare cases, victims infected may develop more serious illnesses.
