Abundance Of Contractor, Paving Scams Hit Montgomery County
As spring continues, contractor and asphalt paving scams are plaguing the region.
LOWER PROVIDENCE, PA — Police in Montgomery County are warning residents of an abundance of contractor-related scams proliferating around the region as the weather heats up.
Scams are related to asphalt paving and other common contracting needs. Scammers call or knock on doors and often urge victims to make an immediate decision on a home improvement project.
"A legitimate company will always have a permit and won’t pressure you on the spot to make a decision," the Lower Providence Township Police Department said in a notice issued Thurday.

They added that scammers often try to get residents to pay for the work in its entirety before actually doing anything, and then they never show up to begin the work on the date they claimed they would start.
If you believe you're being victimized, or even if you're not sure it's a scam, call local police.
