PENNSYLVANIA — The state unveiled a new tracking dashboard on Wednesday to show the progress of vaccine distribution across Pennsylvania. The COVID-19 Vaccine Dashboard is available on the Department of Health website.

The tracker shows that the early phases of COVID-19 vaccine administration is well underway in Pennsylvania, as nearly 100,000 people statewide had received doses as of Wednesday afternoon.

All 96,045 of these early administrations are "partial," meaning that a second dose is needed to complete the vaccination. These doses are exclusively for frontline healthcare workers, EMS first responders, and vulnerable populations in long term care facilities. There remains a long road ahead for individuals not in this first priority phase, as millions of Pennsylvanians wait their turn.

“We can all have hope that next year will have a brighter ending than this year,” Gov. Tom Wolf said in a statement Wednesday. “And that hope should energize us to keep our guard up and continue the fight against COVID-19 in the months ahead. By working together, we can keep one another safe while we wait for the vaccine."

A total of 142 hospitals and pharmacies have received the vaccine as of Wednesday. This week's schedule has 56 more facilities receiving shipments, some of them for the first time.

The 96,000 vaccinations have been spread out in counties across the state, with Allegheny (9,948), Montgomery (5,359), Bucks (4,537), and Northampton (4,283) counties receiving the highest number of doses, according to the Department of State's newly launched COVID-19 dashboard.

A total of 37,131 of these vaccines have gone to women, with 18,143 to men. The 30-34 age group was the five-year bracket with the largest number of vaccinations, at 7,642, the dashboard shows.

Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine has previously states hopes that the vaccine could be available to the general public by late spring or early summer, with some hospital officials seeing "some form of normalcy" on the horizon in 2021.

Levine also announced that she signed an order to make the first phase of vaccines available to healthcare providers not associated with a healthcare system or pharmacy. At least 10 percent of shipments received by all facilities must be earmarked for these "non-affiliated" providers, she said.

“Many vaccine providers have already voluntarily begun vaccinating these providers and for that we are grateful," she said. "Today’s order formalizes this process and eliminates any confusion between vaccine providers and those health care personnel in Phase 1A.”

Vaccine administration comes as case numbers and hospitalizations have finally begun to fall in Pennsylvania after months of surge.
