Knight of Sound Marching Band Competition

The North Penn Marching Knights and the North Penn Music Aides are proud to host the annual Knight of Sound marching band competition.  The United States Scholastic Bands Association sanctioned event features the Marching Knights and eleven local competing bands.  The bands march, play and compete for awards in music, choreography and percussion.   

The event will be held on Saturday, September 24th at Crawford Stadium on the grounds of North Penn High School in Lansdale, PA.  Gates open at 4:30 pm with the first band taking the field in competition at 5:30 pm.  Admission is $8 for Adults, $6 for Students & Seniors. Admission for children 4 and under as well as North Penn Gold Card holders is FREE.

The North Penn Marching Knights will perform, in exhibition, their 2011 show entitled “High Flight”.  The music for “High Flight” is composed by Frank Sullivan.  The show’s theme is centered on man’s dream of flight.

Units performing in competition are:  Abington High School Marching Ghosts, Central Bucks South High School Marching Titans, Daniel Boone High School Marching Blazers, Lake Lehman Junior/Senior High School Marching Knights, Louis E. Dieruff High School, Mount Pleasant High School Green Knights, Northampton High School Big N Band, Perkiomen Valley High School Vikings, Souderton Area High School Big Red Band, Spring-Ford Marching Band The Golden Rams and Upper Moreland High School.

Knight of Sound is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Marching Knights, who were established in 1971.  The North Penn Music Aides, parent organization for the Marching Knights, will sell various refreshments and souvenirs. Mike Britcher is the Host and Director of the North Penn Marching Knights. John Josten is the Assistant Director of the North Penn Marching Knights.
