Lansdale's Inaugural Founder's Day celebration, originally scheduled for Aug. 27, was postponed due to Hurricane Irene and has been rescheduled for Oct. 1.
Here's what to expect:
- The weekly farmer's market will open as usual, at 7 a.m., on Railroad Avenue.
- The Annual Festival of the Arts will be held at Memorial Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring artwork, crafts, entertainment and food.
- Jenkins Homestead and Research Center will be open for tours and displays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Borough Hall will be open, featuring an all-new "Lansdale: Then and Now" video, produced by the historical society, playing continuously from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Various borough departments will demonstrate their equipment in the parking lot of borough hall throughout the day.
- Demonstrations of firefighting and rescue tactics will be presented by Fairmount Fire Company at their parking lot.
- Two special films will be shown at the library, beginning at 4 p.m.
- Vendors, a kids' play area, and a food court will replace the farmer's market in the afternoon on Railroad Avenue, along with musical entertainment.
- At dusk, a fireworks display will end the day at Memorial Park, with a viewing area at Penndale.
